Bishop Sends Letter Concerning CRS

Bishop Patrick Neary, CSC

In a letter addressed to the faithful of the St. Cloud Diocese, Bishop Patrick M. Neary, CSC is asking all within the St. Cloud Diocese to “a deeper commitment” when it comes to supporting the humanitarian needs of the CRS. CRS is the Catholic Relief Services/Bishops’ Appeal. The most notable of campaigns is signified by the annual Rice Bowls recently sent out to parishes throughout the Diocese at the beginning of Lent. Recent decisions by the U.S. Administration for an abrupt suspension and termination of this lifesaving U.S. humanitarian assistance is a cause for concern. The Bishop warns that the CRS teams and partners across the world are witnessing the impacts in real time. He adds that “as food distributions are halted, people are going hungry. Without treatment for acute malnutrition, children will die.”
