October is Marathon of Service Month at St. Mary’s
Service is a fundamental guiding principle of our Catholic faith. We recognize that our actions, no matter how small, can have a meaningful impact on the lives of others and ourselves. Helping others builds empathy, gratitude, and helps develop a sense of purpose and belonging.
"In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: "It is more blessed to give than to receive." Acts 20:35
Each student or family is invited to complete a SERVICE PROJECT or ACT OF KINDNESS during the month of October.
Some Ideas:
-Donate a new or gently used coat to United Way
-Rake a yard for someone who is unable.
-Clean a section of roadway or bike trail.
-Collect or donate food to the local Food Shelf.
-Make a card for someone in need and deliver it.
Document your project with a drawing, photo, and/or written description of the service you performed. Forms were given out during our Family Formation class. Additional forms will be available at the Hospitality Desk in the Commons Area of St. Mary’s. Make it fun to celebrate your service to others! YOU CAN ALSO PRINT OUT A COPY FROM THIS LINK!
During the month of October, as you complete your project, bring your form to church and hang it up on the display wall in the Commons Area for all to see the wonderful service each child/family has been doing.
Thank you for participating in our parish-wide “Marathon of Service”!
