In 1944 things changed dramatically for Maria (Mary) Strasser. In October of that year, at age six, her family was stripped apart during WWII. First her father was taken from their home in Werschetz, Yugoslavia (now Serbia) by Russian soldiers because they were of German descent. Later Mary and her mother were evacuated from their home and taken prisoner. Eventually they would end up in the Molidorf Concentration Camp.
Mary does a much better job of telling her own story. People were privileged to that opportunity on Wednesday, April 9th at The Church of St. Mary as she shared her experiences, both challenges and triumphs.
